Food & Allergy

At IRO Sushi, we are always mindful about food allergies and intolerances. Across the IRO Sushi restaurant and takeaway network, ingredients are used in our kitchens which some diners may be allergic to. Our menu contains full details on which of our menu items feature ingredients that may cause allergic reactions.

However, we strongly suggest contacting a member of the team at IRO Sushi before ordering, in order to request a more detailed information. If you suffer from a serious food allergy, it is important to establish the appropriateness of your dish before ordering.

We would be delighted to prepare a special dish or menu to suit your diet requirements, upon request.  Call or e-mail a member of the team at IRO Sushi for more information on potential allergens.

What are three symptoms of a food allergy?

Food allergies affect different people in different ways, though the main signs and symptoms of a food allergy are usually similar.

Examples of which include tingling or itching in the mouth, an itchy and possibly inflamed rash, swelling of the mouth or other areas of the face, shortness of breath, wheezing, light-headedness, dizziness, difficulty swallowing, nausea and abdominal pain.

However, any unusual symptoms experienced upon consumption of a dish associated with allergic reactions could indicate an allergy or intolerance.

While some people with allergies to ingredients experience very minor symptoms, other food allergies can lead to life-threatening health complications. It is therefore essential to ensure the dishes you order are suitable for your dietary requirements – call or email for confirmation if clarification is needed.

What to do if you have a food allergic reaction

If you suspect that you or one of your fellow diners is experiencing an unexpected allergic reaction, it is important to seek prompt medical advice. While some allergic reactions to ingredients are minor and pose no major health risk, others can quickly escalate into serious complications.

Call the NHS support and advice line on 111 if you experience any unusual symptoms after the consumption of a dish or ingredient. If you experience moderate or severe symptoms of any kind after consumption of a dish, it is vital to call 999 immediately and request urgent medical support.

Under no circumstances should the signs and symptoms of a potential allergy ever be ignored, as they could be indicative of a more severe underlying condition.
